Hi! I am Michaela Shafar and I am so excited to be coming back for my 3rd year of teaching art in Itasca District 10! I graduated with honors with a BA in Art from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, when I was also certified in teaching art for K-12.  Previously I taught 2nd grade and 1st-8th grade art, as well as tutored for 14 years. When I’m not in the art rooms at Benson and Franzen, I love to run, bake, read, and travel with my 4 kids. Inside our art classes, we are always observing, asking questions, being curious about the world, and experimenting when we look at and create art. My goal is for these amazing artists to use these skills in all parts of their lives and to have a lifelong love of learning. I am so privileged to watch your children grow up year after year!
